Research Analyst, Tech Fund

F-Prime's tech fund is looking for a Research Analyst for the Tech Fund who can do two things exceptionally well: dig deep into industries and emerging technologies and then tell those stories in ways that people actually want to read. This isn't a traditional research role where your memos disappear forever into a folder. Your work will support investment decisions, inform our portfolio companies, and—crucially—live out in the world as thought leadership that moves markets and conversations forward. Think state of market reports, Substacks, market maps, company deep dives, and the kind of analysis that makes founders and fellow investors text each other "did you see this?" What You'll Do Research & Market Intelligence Map emerging technology landscapes and track nascent markets before they are obvious to others; Provide market research and competitive analysis to develop new investment themes and early-stage investments; Manage the F-Prime Fintech Index, track fintech index companies and new fintech exits, conduct quarterly criteria evaluation and subsector analyses; Complement technical diligence with your market lens -- reading whitepapers, listening to the voice of the customer, and putting your finger on product differentiation; Prepare M&A landscape maps to aid our portfolio companies in outreach and strategic planning; Join all investment partner discussions and find the unique insights and pearls that lead to great stories and unique perspectives on where markets are headed. Content Creation & Storytelling Create compelling thematic reports and market research with true personality and voice – work that people actually enjoy reading; Work with investment partners to create external content: Substack posts, thought leadership, blog posts, market maps, and visual narratives; Help shape F-Prime Tech Fund's public point-of-view on the direction of technology. Who You Are 1-3 years of experience in technology research, investment banking, or consulting Exceptional writer who can make emerging technologies engaging and accessible Genuinely curious about emerging technology—you read research papers for fun and have strong opinions about AI scaling laws Rigorous analytical mindset with ability to synthesize complex information quickly Self-directed and comfortable with ambiguity (you don't need detailed instructions to produce great work) Complex data into crisp, engaging visualizations Ability to turn complex data into a story while leveraging engaging visualizations Demonstrated interest in startup ecosystems and emerging tech Portfolio of research work or writing samples you're proud of Why This Role is Different You’ll have real influence over how we communicate our thinking to the market and how we support our portfolio companies with actionable insights.
