Bakery Manager

We are looking for an experienced, driven Bakery Manager to lead our Bakery Department at Price Chopper . In this role, you'll take ownership of the department's daily operations-leading and developing your team, maintaining high standards for product quality and freshness, driving sales, and ensuring guests have an exceptional experience every time they shop.

Key Responsibilities & Job Duties

• Lead, supervise, train, develop, evaluate, and coach Bakery Department teammates to deliver exceptional guest hospitality and strong department performance
• Establish clear expectations for productivity, guest service, food quality, department standards, and daily execution
• Manage department schedules and staffing levels to support business needs while operating within labor budgets
• Oversee daily Bakery Department operations to ensure products are fresh, available, properly prepared, and attractively displayed
• Lead and support bakery production, preparation, packaging, and merchandising according to company standards
• Ensure teammates follow approved recipes, portioning, production procedures, and quality standards
• Maintain high standards for product freshness, quality, appearance, packaging, and availability
• Manage department inventory through accurate ordering, receiving, rotation, and product and supply control
• Monitor inventory levels, product movement, and ordering needs to maintain availability while minimizing waste and shrink
• Analyze department sales and performance reports to identify opportunities and implement strategies to improve sales and department performance
• Build and maintain attractive bakery displays that maximize product appeal and sales
• Execute promotional, seasonal, and advertised merchandise according to company direction
• Ensure accurate pricing, signage, product labeling, and promotional execution throughout the department
• Manage markdowns, damaged products, and shrink according to company standards and procedures
• Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, personal hygiene, and allergen handling requirements
• Ensure proper labeling and handling of products, including ingredients and allergens, according to company and regulatory requirements
• Ensure proper operation, cleaning, maintenance, and safe use of bakery equipment and tools
• Provide knowledgeable and exceptional guest service and assist guests with product selection and questions
• Stay informed on products, promotions, and store updates and communicate relevant information to the team
• Communicate clearly and professionally with teammates, guests, vendors, and store leadership
• Conduct and participate in team meetings, trainings, and safety meetings to reinforce expectations and operational standards
• Collaborate with other department managers and store leadership to support overall store performance
• Support opening and closing procedures and ensure the department is prepared for business throughout the day
• Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and guest-ready department
• Other job duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
• Previous supervisory, team lead, or management experience preferred
• Previous grocery, retail, bakery, restaurant, food service, or food preparation experience preferred
• Strong leadership, coaching, communication, and organizational skills
• Experience with scheduling, ordering, inventory management, and department operations
• Knowledge of food preparation, product quality, freshness, and rotation practices
• Ability to work a flexible retail schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Commitment to providing exceptional guest hospitality
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Bakery Manager, Assistant Bakery Manager, or food service leadership experience
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
• Food safety certification preferred
• Experience with bakery production, food preparation, or following recipes and portioning standards
• Experience operating bakery or kitchen equipment
• Knowledge of food allergen handling and labeling requirements
• Experience building and maintaining attractive bakery displays
• Bilingual or multilingual skills a plus
