Adjunct Faculty

Job Title: Assistant Professor of Mathematics Reporting Structure: Department Chair, Mathematics and Physics Division: Mathematics & Physics, College of Science, Engineering & Mathematics Duties/Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate mathematics courses as assigned (such as developmental mathematics, college algebra, pre-calculus, or general education mathematics). Prepare and deliver engaging lectures and instructional materials. Develop and administer quizzes, exams, assignments, and other assessments. Maintain accurate student attendance and grade records. Hold office hours or scheduled student support sessions as required. Respond promptly to student questions and provide academic guidance. Submit grades and required reports by university deadlines. Utilize the Canvas learning management system and instructional technology. Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning. Follow university policies and departmental procedures. Participate in faculty meetings or professional development activities as requested Required Skills/Abilities: Strong knowledge of undergraduate mathematics. Effective classroom management and instructional techniques. Ability to motivate and mentor students. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Proficiency with instructional technology and learning management systems. Education and Experience: Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics (College Prep only). Master’s in Mathematics or related field with 18 graduate hours in Mathematics Teaching experience preferred Ability to utilize technology and innovative pedagogy to enhance teaching and learning. Understanding of a commitment to working with a diverse student population in a multicultural environment. Preferred Skills, Experience and Education: Master’s in Mathematics or related field with 18 graduate hours in Mathematics Experience teaching developmental mathematics, college algebra, or pre-calculus. Familiarity with online or hybrid instruction. Experience using Canvas or similar learning management systems. Physical Requirements: Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while teaching classes. Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff in person and through electronic communication. Ability to use a computer, keyboard, projector, and other instructional technology for prolonged periods. Ability to move throughout classrooms, offices, and campus facilities. Ability to lift and carry instructional materials, books, or equipment weighing up to 20 pounds on an occasional basis. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment, including computers, printers, and audiovisual equipment. Visual acuity sufficient to read printed materials, computer screens, and classroom presentations. Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation in accordance with applicable federal and state laws.
