A day in the life

You arrive on the production floor with one goal: build quality into every step. You scan process dashboards and SPC charts, review any overnight NCRs, and head directly to the line to observe critical operations. By mid-morning, you’re partnering with product design and product management to anticipate risks before they become defects. After lunch, you’re auditing a supplier’s raw materials against specifications, then closing the loop on a recent nonconformity with a crisp root cause analysis and clear corrective and preventive actions. You wrap the day documenting updates to Control Plans, PFMEAs, and Process Flow Diagrams—keeping our APQP milestones on track and our next PPAP package audit-ready.

What you’ll own

• Build, implement, and maintain robust quality standards for products, processes, and systems—continuously refining methods to prevent defects in components and finished goods.
• Collaborate closely with product design, product management, and production teams to identify quality risks early and co-develop solutions that uphold the highest standards.
• Plan and execute audits of production processes, raw materials, and suppliers/vendors; report findings and drive timely, effective corrective actions.
• Lead investigations into defects, nonconformities, and quality escapes using structured root cause analysis; define and verify corrective and preventive actions to stop recurrence.
• Support and sustain compliance with external standards (e.g., ISO 9001); help prepare for and participate in audits while staying current on industry requirements.
• Ensure complete, accurate, and timely documentation of NCRs, root cause analysis reports, and corrective actions.
• Advance continuous improvement by spotting inefficiencies and contributing to Lean and Six Sigma initiatives.
• Drive APQP throughout the product lifecycle, maintaining Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, and FMEAs in alignment with requirements.
• Coordinate cross-functionally to meet APQP gates, timelines, and deliverables.
• Prepare, compile, submit, and track Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation per customer and AIAG standards; secure timely approvals to support launches and engineering changes; maintain traceable records of approvals and revisions.
• Champion safety, environmental, and quality policies while practicing 5S to keep work areas clean, organized, and efficient.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree
• 2–4 years of relevant experience

Core strengths

• Working knowledge of quality principles, inspection techniques, and applicable industry standards; familiarity with RCA, FMEA, and SPC.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills; able to translate quality issues and solutions for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong analytics and problem-solving, with a drive to improve product quality and process efficiency.
• Meticulous attention to detail to ensure specifications and standards are consistently met.
