Travel RN – Cardiac Telemetry / Stepdown | 13-Week Contract

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Cardiac Telemetry/Stepdown Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment on a 29-bed Cardiopulmonary Unit. This high-acuity cardiac floor cares for patients recovering from cardiac interventions, respiratory conditions, and complex medical diagnoses requiring continuous telemetry monitoring.

Contract Details

• Contract Length: 13 Weeks
• Shift: 12-Hour Days or Nights (7:00 AM–7:00 PM / 7:00 PM–7:00 AM)
• Weekly Hours: 36
• Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Participation in Holiday Rotation

• Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI)
• Post Cardiac Catheterization
• Post-PCI Recovery
• Cardiac Rhythm Management
• Pacemaker Patients
• Respiratory Failure
• Chest Tube Patients
• Post-Operative Lung Surgery Recovery
• Cardiac Monitoring and Telemetry Patients

Nurse-to-Patient Ratio

• Typical Ratio: 1:5–6

Required Qualifications

• Active RN License
• Current BLS Certification
• Current ACLS Certification
• Recent Cardiac Telemetry and Stepdown Experience
• Strong Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation Skills
• Experience Managing Cardiac Drips
• Ability to Independently Read and Interpret Telemetry Strips

Required Clinical Skills

• Telemetry Monitoring
• Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation
• Post-Cath Recovery Care
• Chest Tube Management
• Cardiac Patient Assessment
• Respiratory Patient Care
• Titration of Cardiac Medications

Drip Experience Required

Candidates must be comfortable titrating:

• Cardizem
• Amiodarone
• Dobutamine
• Dopamine
• Integrelin
• Heparin
• Nitro (up to 50 mcg)
• Lasix
• Ativan

Support Staff

• Charge Nurse on Every Shift
• CNA Support Available
  • Approximately 1 CNA per 12 patients
  • Typically 3 CNAs on Days and 2 on Nights
• Respiratory Therapy Available for CPAP/BiPAP Management

Floating Requirements

• May float to other Med/Surg and Telemetry units as needed
• Travelers are expected to float within their skill set

Scheduling & Orientation

• 12-Hour Shifts
• Every Other Weekend Required
• Unit-Based Orientation with Preceptor Support

Dress Code

• Royal Blue Scrubs
• No False Nails Permitted
