Senior Manager, Data Center Operations

Job Overview Senior Manager, Data Center Operations – responsible for building a new US-based organization within Infrastructure focused on driving operational excellence in hyperscale pods in wholesale colocation facilities. Manage rapid physical deployment of new equipment and maintain all equipment within stated SLAs. Responsibilities Managing a team of employees supervising the activities of field technician contractors in hyperscale pods across the United States Building relationships with third-party system integrators used for deployment and maintenance activities and overseeing the work Building relationships with large-scale data center providers for new deployments and ongoing operations Conducting inventory control on local spare parts, including RMA coordination for defective parts Coordinating with Compliance team on access list management for assigned data centers Maintaining 24x7 staffing and escalation path to address network incidents and SLA adherence Evaluating and adapting training curriculum to the specific needs of hyperscale pods Coordinating the staffing of Field Technicians at hyperscale pods Qualifications 10 years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Management Information Systems, another related field or equivalent experience Extensive experience working with data center vendors and the data center environment Track record of solid employee development and engagement Drive for process improvement Experience guiding teams through process changes and realignments Benefits Akamai offers competitive compensation (US base salary $132,100 - $237,900/year, incentive compensation, equity awards, ESPP) and industry‑leading benefits including healthcare, 401(k), company holidays, PTO, sick time, family‑friendly benefits (parental leave), employee assistance program, mental and financial wellness resources.
