Job Title: Cost Accountant
Location: Livermore, Ca
Pay Range: $45-$50 DOE
Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
Full-Time, Onsite, Temporary to hire

We are actively seeking a  Cost  Accountant  to join a highly respected advanced manufacturing organization serving complex and technology-driven industries. In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining the accuracy of inventory and production costing data while supporting financial reporting, operational decision-making, and process improvement initiatives. This opportunity is ideal for an analytical accounting professional who enjoys partnering with operations, procurement, and finance teams to deliver meaningful insights that support business performance.

To Be Successful in This Role, You’ll Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a closely related field.
• 2+ years of cost accounting experience within a standard-cost manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of inventory accounting, manufacturing variances, and cost analysis.
• Experience supporting month-end close activities, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to evaluate material costs, inventory transactions, and production-related financial data.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• ERP system experience; Oracle exposure is beneficial.

What You'll Be Responsible For

• Support the accuracy and integrity of inventory records and manufacturing cost data.
• Maintain and update standard material costs while collaborating with procurement on cost trends and variances.
• Analyze inventory activity, identify unusual transactions, and provide actionable reporting to leadership.
• Assist in evaluating labor and overhead rates to support accurate product costing.
• Monitor inventory absorption and help assess reserve requirements where applicable.
• Participate in internal control activities and compliance-related reviews.
• Review work-in-process inventory, evaluate job closure accuracy, and analyze manufacturing variances.
• Support cycle count programs, inventory audits, and reconciliation activities.
• Prepare cost accounting journal entries and reconcile perpetual inventory balances to the general ledger.
• Assist with monthly gross margin reporting, inventory reporting, and various accounting projects assigned by management.
