Job Title: Assistant Director of Nursing Position Type: Full-time Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Accident, Critical Illness, Pet plans available Disability plans available Employer paid Life Insurance HSA and FSA plans Mileage reimbursement 160 hours of PTO annually plus 9 paid Holidays Job Summary: The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) supports the Director of Nursing in providing compassionate, high-quality hospice care to patients and families. This role helps oversee clinical operations, ensures compliance with hospice regulations and agency policies, supervises nursing staff, and promotes excellent patient outcomes through effective leadership, coordination, and quality improvement. Responsibilities: Supports the Director of Nursing with daily clinical operations. Supervises and mentors nurses, aides, and other clinical staff. Coordinates patient admissions, care plans, and interdisciplinary services. Ensures patients receive safe, compassionate end-of-life care. Reviews documentation for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance. Monitors quality measures, incidents, complaints, and patient outcomes. Helps manage staffing, scheduling, and on-call coverage. Educates staff on hospice policies, procedures, and clinical best practices. Communicates with physicians, families, pharmacies, facilities, and the hospice team. Assists with audits, surveys, performance improvement, and regulatory compliance. Provides direct patient care or on-call support when needed. Performs the Director of Nursing's duties when the DON is unavailable. Requirements Licensure: Current LPN/RN license in the state of practice. Current Driver's License. Experience: Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in hospice or palliative care. Skills: Nursing skills as defined as generally accepted standards of practice. Knowledge of state and federal regulations. Ability to work independently and make sound decisions. Strong attention to detail and organizational habits. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Good interpersonal skills.
