Mechanical Design Engineer

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing design-build firm in Indianapolis, IN. This role is not remote and relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.The ideal candidate will have expertise in industrial refrigeration, with experience in working with ammonia as a strong advantage. This position focuses on designing systems, not products or machines, and requires close collaboration with clients.ResponsibilitiesCreate efficient and reliable refrigeration and mechanical systemsCollaborate with clients to define system needs and create detailed budgetsDevelop 2D/3D CAD layouts and confirm performance through calculations and simulationsSuggest enhancements to current systems to increase efficiency and sustainabilityChoose subcontractors, procure equipment, and support installation and commissioningStay informed on industry regulations, standards, and new refrigeration technologiesRequirementsDegree in Mechanical Engineering or a related fieldAt least 5 years of experience designing refrigeration/mechanical systemsProficiency in AutoCAD and strong estimation abilitiesThorough understanding of industrial refrigeration, with a preference for ammonia knowledgeExcellent problem-solving and communication skillsClean driving recordCompensation and BenefitsSalary range of $100,000–$150,000, depending on experienceRelocation assistance and company vehicle providedHealth, dental, vision insurance and paid time off401(k) with employer matching
