Private, Outpatient Rheumatology clinic seeking an experienced, motivated Medical Assistant to join our busy rheumatology practice.

We are looking for someone who is organized, efficient, clinically capable, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate takes initiative without needing constant direction, prepares ahead, anticipates provider and patient needs, and takes ownership of ensuring the chart is accurate and complete.

Key Responsibilities

• Pre-chart upcoming visits, reviewing the record for relevant labs, imaging, medications, outside records, diagnoses, quality measures, and other information needed for the visit.
• Room patients efficiently and obtain and accurately document histories, medications, vitals, and other required clinical information.
• Ensure charting is accurate and complete, including required clinical documentation and applicable MIPS/quality-measure elements.
• Identify missing MIPS information and address gaps with the patient or provider during the visit whenever possible.
• Perform blood draws/phlebotomy and appropriately process specimens.
• Administer injections within training, scope, and practice protocols.
• Assist providers with procedures and other clinical services.
• Perform EPAT treatments according to practice protocols and provider orders.
• Perform patient measurements and fitting assistance for orthotics.
• Work closely with physicians and advanced practice providers to keep clinic flow organized and on schedule.
• Anticipate provider needs and identify missing information before the provider enters the room whenever possible.
• Respond to patient questions, telephone encounters, and clinical messages, gathering the necessary information and routing clinical concerns appropriately.
• Assist with refill requests and other medication-related clinical workflows.
• Review incoming records, labs, imaging, and clinical information and ensure items are appropriately documented and routed to the provider.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in eClinicalWorks (eCW) and appropriately close or route assigned tasks.
• Follow through on assigned responsibilities and proactively identify outstanding work rather than waiting to be directed.
• Maintain clean, organized, and appropriately stocked exam and clinical areas.
• Communicate effectively with providers, clinical staff, front office staff, pharmacies, and patients.

What We're Looking For

eClinicalWorks (eCW) experience is strongly preferred.

Prior experience in rheumatology, another specialty practice, or a high-volume/fast-paced outpatient clinic is highly preferred.

The successful candidate will:

• Take initiative and demonstrate strong ownership and follow-through.
• Be comfortable managing multiple priorities in a busy clinic.
• Recognize what needs to be done and act appropriately without waiting for every task to be assigned.
• Be detail-oriented and able to identify missing or inconsistent information in the medical record.
• Understand the importance of thorough pre-charting, accurate documentation, and visit preparation.
• Be comfortable with phlebotomy, injections, and hands-on patient care.
• Communicate professionally and compassionately with patients, including when addressing questions or concerns.
• Understand when a clinical question requires provider review and route it appropriately.
• Work collaboratively and be willing to help wherever needed.
• Be dependable, punctual, adaptable, and able to maintain productivity throughout a fast-paced clinic day.

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant experience in an outpatient clinical setting required.
• Phlebotomy/blood draw experience preferred.
• Experience administering injections preferred.
• eClinicalWorks (eCW) experience strongly preferred.
• Rheumatology or specialty-practice experience preferred.
• Experience in a busy, high-volume medical practice strongly preferred.
• Medical Assistant certification preferred.
• Strong computer, documentation, communication, and organizational skills required.
