As a Pastry Assistant at Ole & Steen you will prepare a variety of cakes, pastries, and other sweet goods according to our traditional Danish recipes. Responsibilities Prepare a variety of cakes, pastries, and other sweet goods according to our traditional Danish recipes Observe and maintain the quality of products being baked, and adjust oven temperatures, baking time accordingly Combine measured ingredients in bowls of mixing, blending, or cooking machinery Decorating pastries and cakes in a consistent style to ensure a beautiful presentation Checking quality of raw materials to ensure that standards and specifications are met Follow plating and display standards Follow portion standards Monitor inventory of ingredients for production Properly label and store ingredients Check equipment to ensure that it meets health and safety regulations Maintain a clean and orderly station and adhere to health and safety standards Qualifications & Requirements A High School diploma or GED certificate is a plus Completion of a Culinary School program or apprenticeship preferred 1-2 years of pastry-making relevant experience The ability to stand for long periods of time Able to lift 50lbs Basic math skills Great attention to detail Excellent time management skills Able to work a flexible schedule, especially during the holidays Maintain a clean environment and keep the area organized and free of clutter Thoroughly follow company procedures according to health and safety standards Adhere to all food safety regulations and procedures Equal Employment Opportunity Ole & Steen is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
