If you are looking to further your education through a college degree, the Florida Department of Health can help with our tuition reimbursement program.Title of Position: Medical Unit SpecialistYour Specific Responsibilities:Monitors and performs the purchase of supplies, services, and commodities for the Disease Control Division.Coordinates activities with the Purchasing Department and appropriate L4 staff.Prepares purchase requisitions in the Purchase Requisition System (PRS).Utilizes the My Florida Market Place (MFMP) and Works.Establishes and maintains accounting systems for reimbursement of expenses, using documentation of receipt and invoices.Compiles monthly inventory and disbursement of purchases.Maintains perpetual inventory of supplies.Follows DC guidelines for purchasing, writes letters to request approval to spend grant funding, keeps spreadsheets/other reporting tools up-to-date and manages purchasing data.Establishes and maintains a Supply Level Tracking system for all DC L4s including medical, office and janitorial supplies.Assists program managers, supervisors, and DC Business Center team.Conducts site visits to educate staff in procurement process and validate just-in-time inventory.Answers incoming Disease Control phone calls as part of the DC Business Center.Enter data in a variety of systems such as HMS, Availity, Change HealthCare and FLSHOTS.Completes time submission into People First and HMS-EARs according to agency standards.Attend meetings and training to maintain and improve skills and knowledge.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.Knowing how to find information and identifying essential information.Using logic and analysis to identify the strengths and weaknesses of different approaches.Communicating effectively with others in writing as indicated by the needs of the audience (orally and written).Adjusting actions in relation to others' actions.Knowledge of Health Management System.Ability to use Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Teams).Qualifications:Minimum: 1 year of customer service experience1 year of data entry experience1 year of experience answering phones1 year of purchasing experiencePreferred: 1 year of purchasing experience1 year of Ariba software system (AOD) experienceBilingual (English & Spanish)The Benefits of Working for the State of Florida:Working for the State of Florida is more than a paycheck.
