Entry salary is $31,200 ($15.00/hour)General Description:The purpose of this position is to provide custodial services in maintaining County buildings in a clean, orderly, and safe manner. This position performs cleaning duties and informs management of repair needs.Essential Job Duties:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job duties satisfactorily. Since every duty associated with this position may not be described herein, employees may be required to perform duties not specifically spelled out but may be considered incidental in the performance of this job.Collects and disposes of trash and debris.Collects, sorts, and disposes of recyclables.Provides general custodial maintenance of assigned county buildings and facilities, to include Westminster Library.Performs various custodial duties in restrooms such as cleaning sinks, toilets, and urinals.Restocks all paper products in restrooms.Vacuums and cleans carpet floors.Sweeps, mops, strips, waxes, and buffs tile floors.Cleans interior and exterior windows.Moves furniture and equipment as directed.Disposes of furniture and equipment as directed.Notifies management of needed repairs.Notifies management of needed supplies.Supervises inmates from detention center and/or individuals performing community service by assisting with custodial duties.Maintains County owned vehicle.Notifies management of any concerns with vehicle.Performs other related duties as assigned.Requirements:Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.Knowledge of cleaning materials and methods for proper use of chemicals and materials.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Ability to prioritize tasks.Knowledge of general custodial and lawn maintenance procedures.Physical abilities to perform duties.Knowledge of County guidelines and procedures.Ability to operate cleaning tools, accessories and equipment.Education and Experience:High School Diploma or equivalent, and six (6) months of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations:Required: Valid driver's license.Preferred: None.Physical Demands:The work is heavy work which requires exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.This position has the following special vision requirements: close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less); distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more); color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors); peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up or down and to the left and right when vision is fixed on a given point); depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships); adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).Work Environment:Work is performed in a demanding indoor and/or outdoor work environment; may encounter noise, weather, extreme temperatures, moisture, humidity, dust, odors, fumes, gases, poor ventilation, vibration, electrical hazards, chemical hazards, or bio-hazardous waste.
