Position Overview

The Associate Early Childhood Mental Health Clinician role focuses on providing essential therapeutic support in preschool settings. This position is ideal for candidates committed to early childhood development, social-emotional growth, and collaborative care within multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Clinical Support: Provide individual and group therapy for preschool-aged children to address emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges.
• Developmental Evaluation: Conduct observations, developmental screenings, and consultations with teachers and parents to assess social-emotional needs.
• Caregiver Empowerment: Provide parents and caregivers with effective, actionable tools to foster emotional and behavioral growth at home.
• Collaborative Care: Partner with teachers and school staff to implement positive behavior management strategies and facilitate mental health workshops.
• Ethical Compliance: Maintain accurate, confidential clinical records in compliance with ethical guidelines and state regulations.

Qualifications

• Education: Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT), Psychology, or a related field.
• Licensure: Must hold an active California BBS Associate License (AMFT).
• Experience: Prior experience working with young children in a preschool or early childhood setting is preferred.
• Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work effectively with diverse cultural populations.
• Preferences: Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly desirable.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Candidates must be comfortable working in an active preschool environment. This role requires:

• Frequent bending, kneeling, and sitting on the floor or in child-sized furniture.
• Occasional lifting and carrying of children for support or comfort.
• Ability to move between classrooms, playgrounds, and activity areas.
• Valid California driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and current insurance for travel.
• Ability to pass a background check and provide proof of health screenings, TB clearance, and required vaccinations (MMR, Tdap, flu).
