Rhino Medical is leading the charge seeking a Board Certified Anesthesiologist for a locum tenens opportunity in St. Peters, Missouri.

This assignment offers a defined Monday–Friday daytime schedule within an established anesthesia practice spanning both hospital and ambulatory surgical environments. The practice operates under an anesthesia supervision model with CRNA support, approximately 29 cases per day, eight anesthetizing locations, Epic EMR, and an established clinical team.

Physicians will be credentialed at two nearby practice locations and must be comfortable providing coverage at both. The assignment also includes participation in a home-call rotation, making this best suited for an anesthesiologist looking for meaningful ongoing coverage rather than isolated PRN shifts.

Schedule & Call

Day Coverage

• Monday–Friday
• 7:00 AM–3:00 PM

Weekday Home Call

• Monday–Friday
• 3:00 PM–7:00 AM
• Pager-based coverage

Weekend Home Call

• Saturday and Sunday
• 24-hour home call
• Pager-based coverage

Providers must be willing to participate in the call schedule.

CRNA support is available for the in-house pager during both weekday and weekend coverage. There is no additional backup physician pager.

Practice Environment

The anesthesia program supports approximately 5,000 cases annually , averaging approximately 29 cases per day across eight anesthetizing locations.

The current staffing model includes 2 physicians and 9 advanced anesthesia clinicians , operating within a supervision model designed around collaborative physician and CRNA practice.

Physicians will provide coverage across both hospital-based and ambulatory surgical settings within the St. Peters market. Candidates must be willing to float between both locations as clinical coverage requires.

Clinical documentation is completed in Epic .

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive anesthesiology services across hospital and ambulatory surgical environments
• Perform pre-anesthetic assessment and develop appropriate anesthesia plans
• Provide and supervise anesthesia care throughout the perioperative period
• Supervise anesthesia clinicians within the established staffing model
• Perform regional anesthetic techniques and nerve blocks
• Manage perioperative clinical issues and anesthetic complications
• Participate in weekday and weekend home-call coverage
• Collaborate with CRNAs, surgeons, nursing teams, and perioperative staff
• Complete clinical documentation within Epic

Required Clinical Skills

Candidates must be comfortable performing:

• Regional anesthesia
• Peripheral nerve blocks
• Anesthesia care across hospital and ambulatory surgical settings
• Physician supervision of anesthesia clinicians

Because regional anesthesia is specifically required by the current clinical model, physicians should have recent and demonstrable proficiency with regional and nerve block techniques.

Candidate Requirements

• MD or DO
• Board Certified in Anesthesiology
• ABA or AOBA certification
• Appropriate Missouri medical licensure and credentialing
• Recent Anesthesiology experience
• Regional anesthesia and nerve block competency
• Comfortable practicing within a CRNA-supported supervision model
• Willingness to provide coverage at both designated St. Peters practice locations
• Willingness to participate in weekday and weekend home call
