The Portable Sanitation Technician/ Driver is responsible for delivering, servicing, cleaning, and removing portable sanitation equipment while providing outstanding customer service. This role requires safely operating a service truck, servicing portable restrooms and handwashing stations, maintaining equipment, and ensuring all work is completed in accordance with company standards and environmental regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver, relocate, and retrieve portable restrooms, handwashing stations, holding tanks, and related sanitation equipment.
- Pump, clean, sanitize, and restock portable restroom units according to established service schedules.
- Perform routine inspections and minor repairs to portable sanitation equipment.
- Operate vacuum pumps, water systems, and service truck equipment safely and efficiently.
- Complete daily routes while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate service records using route sheets or electronic devices.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicles.
- Report vehicle or equipment maintenance needs promptly.
- Follow all DOT regulations, environmental requirements, and company safety policies.
- Communicate professionally with customers and respond to service requests courteously.
- Maintain a clean, organized service vehicle and work area.
- Assist with yard duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- CDL is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
- Mechanical aptitude is a plus.
- Previous experience in sanitation, route service, construction, delivery, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Repeated bending, climbing, kneeling, and reaching throughout the workday.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Comfortable working around sanitation equipment and waste while following proper safety procedures.
