About the Role

The Company is seeking a Chief of External Affairs to serve as its most senior strategic communications leader. This role requires a strategic leader with a deep understanding of brand stewardship, digital strategy, and the ability to drive measurable influence in a rapidly evolving media and policy landscape. The Chief will also be tasked with overseeing media strategy, partnerships, and an ambitious publication agenda, as well as leading internal and external communications that align with the organization's mission and values. Applicants for the Chief of External Affairs position at the company should have a minimum of 10 years' of senior leadership experience in strategic communications, with a proven track record of shaping national discourse and influencing decision-making. The role demands exceptional writing and narrative expertise, as well as the ability to serve as a senior organizational spokesperson. A background in the K-12 education ecosystem or experience in translating complex systems issues is essential. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in crisis communications, executive counsel, and leading through organizational change, and will be adept at building and leading senior functional teams to deliver on enterprise priorities.
