Job Summary:
A Medical Surgical (Med Surg) Registered Nurse (RN) position is available in Springfield, Illinois, within an acute care hospital setting. The role involves providing care on a 23-bed unit, managing cerebrovascular accidents, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and other neurological disorders. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day. This position requires a minimum of one year of relevant experience and will be scheduled for night shifts, starting at 1845 hours.

Job Details:

• Required Qualifications: Illinois license; BLS (Basic Life Support) and NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certifications; minimum 1 year of experience in a related role; active Illinois license in hand or in process with ETA
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with cerebrovascular accident (CVA), peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, spinal cord injury, starting and maintaining IVs, traumatic brain injury; Cerner EMR experience
• Open to first-timers: Yes
• Schedule: Night shifts, 3 days per week, with up to 5 non-holiday RTO days auto-approvable; must work 2 of the 3 major holidays; 36 hours guaranteed per week with possible call-off adjustments
• Float: Float as needed within scope of practice
• Additional Information: PICC line management and experience with starting IVs are required. Previous charge experience and Cerner EMR experience are preferred.
• Patient Care Details: Adults and geriatrics with diagnoses including ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, TIA, subdural hematoma, brain mass, seizures, back and neck surgeries, craniotomies, and neurological disorders. Medications include Levetiracetam, lorazepam, aspirin, Lovenox, Heparin, antihypertensives, Plavix, atorvastatin, Eliquis. Special procedures include EEGs and lumbar punctures.
• Travel Compliance: Candidate must be pre-closed, review job details, confirm housing, and submit SSN and DOB. Provide 2-3 interview windows. RTO and start date must be confirmed. Background check results and certifications are required with submission.
• Documentation & Orientation: Lab appointment, DocuSign documents, badge photo within 1 week of contract signing. Virtual orientation on Day 1 with modules to be completed by 4:00 PM CST.
