District Support Pharmacist Part Time

Our District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence within each pharmacy by serving as a role model for all, demonstrating genuine care, and setting the bar for the pharmacy team. DSP Responsibilities Live our purpose by managing and improving patient health through safe dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices. Travel the district to fill pharmacist shifts and serve as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts. Support accurate prescription fulfillment by directing the pharmacy team to follow workflow procedures and safety guardrails. Assume the Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist-on-duty. Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, coaching the pharmacy team, resolving insurance and medication issues, and collaborating with the patient’s healthcare team. Offer and deliver immunizations, while supporting Pharmacy Technicians in learning to immunize. Manage pharmacy inventory, guiding the team to follow best practices and protect cold chain products. Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs while fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic. Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills, pursue continuing education, and stay current with industry developments. Apply for pharmacist-delivered clinical care services (e.g., COVID/Flu, hormonal contraception) where permitted, empowering the team to provide holistic care. Understand and comply with all federal and state regulations, professional standards, and CVS Health policies to ensure patient safety and privacy. Required Qualifications Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located. Active National Provider Identifier (NPI). Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list. Essential Functions Ability to travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing as business needs require. Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends. Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe. Attention and Focus Concentrate on a task over a period of time. Pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs. Confirm prescription information and label accuracy, ensuring patient safety. Customer Service and Team Orientation Actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner. Notice and understand patients’ reactions, responding appropriately. Communication Skills Use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues. Utilize active listening, giving full attention, asking questions, and not interrupting inappropriately. Mathematical Reasoning Use math to calculate needed quantities such as days’ supply or number of bottles. Problem Resolution Identify challenging interactions and choose the best course of action among options. Physical Demands Mobile and upright for extended periods; lift, scan, bag items; reach overhead; use fingers repetitively. Lift up to 20 lbs occasionally, regularly 10 lbs, and occasionally negligible force. Engage in detailed oral and written communication when instructions must be conveyed accurately. Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager. Preferred Qualifications 1–2 years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
