Maintenance Specialist

Job Details: Job Location: Decatur - Decatur, AL 35801, Position Type: Full Time, Job Category: Maintenance, The Maintenance Specialist provides general maintenance, manual support, and oversees all landscaping on the grounds of the Decatur campus. This position provides support services for facilities and automobiles and facilitates the best first impression and continued pleasant experiences for our children, families, and guests. This position is also a part of the Support Services team that oversees maintenance for locations statewide. SPIRITUAL EXPECTATIONS A committed follower of Jesus Christ who is comfortable talking about their salvation. An active member of a local New Testament church. Demonstrates Christlike character, humility, and a commitment to discipleship and ministry to children and families. Familiarity with the general theological beliefs of Southern Baptists; agreement with specific truths in the Baptist Faith and Message; and agreement to conduct work in alignment with the Baptist Faith and Message. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Oversee all lawn care duties (maintenance and landscaping), including grass mowing, weeding, edging, maintaining beds, blowing debris, and trimming of shrubs and trees. Oversee pool maintenance and upkeep. Manage general plumbing tasks. Oversee all cleaning duties: remove trash, clean floors, clean bathrooms, wash windows, etc. Maintain all paint projects (interior/exterior) at the office, cottages, and other properties. Oversee all electrical needs on campus: wiring, changing fixtures and bulbs. Manage and/or assist with any campus building or remodeling projects; oversee all repairs and carpentry needs. Assist with any event setup, on and off campus. Maintain all ministry vehicles per approved maintenance records. Assist as needed with gifts in-kind and deliveries. Develop and maintain a preferred vendor list for the Decatur area. Assist with general upkeep and maintenance of all ministry properties. Participate in weekly communication call or in‑person Birmingham meeting with Support Services Team. Coordinate with Support Services Team to participate in weekly facility maintenance visits to locations statewide, as needed. Assist in planning and budgeting annually. Ensure prompt response times to ticketing system for all maintenance requests. Attend monthly Decatur staff meetings and participate in office/campus events. Coordinate all work with ABCH Maintenance and Facilities Coordinator. Perform other duties as assigned by Support Services Team. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Positively participate in planning, preparing, and promoting Camp of Champions, as well as actively working in a specific role during Camp of Champions annually. Valid driver’s license and safe driving record. If all other factors are equal, preference will be given to Baptist candidates in both hiring and job advancement opportunities. Ability to work flexible hours (including weekends) and travel as needed. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds on a regular basis. Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent. Experience in lawn care maintenance, vehicle maintenance, and interior/exterior house maintenance. SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES Ability to respond to multiple and complex tasks immediately. General handyman skills. Ability to work independently, with volunteers, and others, managing multiple tasks with minimum supervision. Proficiency with technology and management systems; willingness to learn new tools. Demonstrated capacity to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
