Fairmont Breakers is a beloved feature of the Long Beach skyline, a historic landmark with a character and soul of its own. Originally opened in the roaring twenties as a lavish hotel on the waterfront, Breakers was a sought-after destination for world-famous stars. Following an extensive renovation, Fairmont Breakers returns as Long Beach’s only luxury hotel, restoring one of California’s most storied properties to its original grandeur. It offers 185 boutique rooms and suites; a rooftop pool and terrace; an open-air rooftop lounge with views of the Pacific; a blissful two-story spa, wellness and fitness center; dining venues and bars including a live jazz club; and 10,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor function space. Whether exploring the comforts of elevated coastal Italian cuisine in Nettuno or dining among the stars with champagne and caviar in Sky Room, Fairmont Breakers aims to delight all of your senses with artful surroundings and innovative offerings from our culinary team. Reporting to the General Manager, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: Exemplify and lead the Company Service and Brand Culture initiatives Act as the Strategic Business Partner and functional Subject Matter Expert to Senior Hotel Leadership Align and execute People & Culture activities to Employee Value Proposition and Strategic plan Oversee people & culture initiatives, acting as a liaison between corporate office and hotel Collaborate with corporate Talent & Culture function on key programs/initiatives Lead and oversee the day-to-day operation of the People & Culture Department Lead labor relations initiatives Promote positive employee relations, overall employee experience, and drive employee engagement through an environment that encourages open communication, trust, mutual respect, and fun 4+years’ experience as a Director, People & Culture / Human Resources (in both union and non-union settings) Passionateabout promoting company values and creating programming that supports a positive workplace culture Collaborative team player, with excellent influencing skills with the ability to build relationships easily amongst various stakeholder groups Solid understanding of U.S. employment laws, including California State Law University/College degree in a related discipline, or combination of education and experience Proven success in leading strategic initiatives that positively impact hotel KPIs What is in it for you: Salary range: $130,000 - $170,000 USD gross per annum Discounted hotel rooms and food & beverage rates to employees at our sister properties around the globe.
