Production Quality Inspector – Aerospace Manufacturing
Location: Manchester CT
Duration: 6 months, contract - to hire
Schedule: Monday - Thursday 6:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Pay: $35 - $50 / HR
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Production Quality Inspector to join a leading aerospace manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that parts and assemblies meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance before shipment and flight. You will perform in-process, first article, and final inspections , partnering closely with Quality Engineering and Production teams to maintain compliance with aerospace and regulatory requirements.
This is a hands-on position for someone who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and has a strong background in aerospace quality inspection.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed visual inspections of aerospace components and assemblies to established quality standards.
- Conduct dimensional and physical inspections using precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, thread gauges, and other inspection tools.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and GD&T requirements to verify product conformity.
- Complete and document First Article Inspections (FAIs) in accordance with AS9102 standards.
- Utilize advanced inspection equipment such as CMMs, borescopes, micrometers, and calipers to verify tight tolerances.
- Review shop job packages and maintain accurate quality documentation, inspection reports, logs, and Certificates of Conformance.
- Identify, document, and report nonconformances (NCRs) and collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams on corrective actions.
- Support internal and external quality audits and ensure compliance with AS9100 quality standards and applicable FAA regulations.
- Assist in completing and reviewing FAI packages in partnership with Quality Engineers.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of quality inspection experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding and practical application of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Proven ability to read and interpret aerospace blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
- Working knowledge of AS9100 quality standards and FAA regulations.
- Experience performing in-process, first article, and final inspections.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment.
- Ability to pass a visual acuity exam (Snellen 20/25 or similar) and color discrimination test.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
