About the Events Department The Events Department at Elk Ave Hospitality supports private dining, catered events, celebrations, and group experiences across our venues and hospitality offerings. This team helps bring memorable events to life through thoughtful planning, polished service, and strong execution. The Banquet Captain plays a key role in that process by leading service on event days, coordinating with the event and operations teams, and ensuring guests receive a seamless and memorable experience. Opportunities Available Banquet Captain Position Summary The Banquet Captain is responsible for leading front‑of‑house event execution for private events, banquets, and catered functions across Elk Ave Hospitality. This position supports the Events Department by overseeing service flow, directing team execution, ensuring event readiness, and helping create a polished and memorable guest experience. This role is ideal for a hospitality professional who is organized, guest‑focused, and confident leading service in a dynamic environment. The right candidate will bring urgency, professionalism, attention to detail, and a strong sense of accountability to every event. I lead smooth and organized event execution by guiding the service team with professionalism and urgency. I ensure event timelines, service standards, and guest expectations are clearly understood and executed. I lead by example during service and maintain a calm, polished, and solution‑oriented presence throughout each event. I lead a hospitality experience that feels seamless, welcoming, and memorable from beginning to end. Event Setup, Readiness, and Breakdown I lead event setup and ensure event spaces are properly set, stocked, and guest‑ready before service begins. I direct room setup, table arrangements, service station readiness, and final event details as directed. I monitor event flow throughout service and lead clean, organized breakdown after the event. I take pride in the cleanliness, organization, and presentation of the event environment. I ensure that every event space reflects the standards of Elk Ave Hospitality. Team Communication and Coordination I communicate clearly with managers, event leads, kitchen teams, bartenders, servers, and support staff throughout the event process. I direct staff assignments and support the team in staying organized, prepared, and guest‑focused. I elevate issues appropriately and solve problems quickly and professionally as they arise. I support a team culture built on communication, accountability, and mutual respect. I ensure everyone involved understands priorities, timing, and expectations. I attend BEO meetings and stay informed on upcoming event details, service notes, guest counts, and operational expectations. I assist in sourcing and organizing staff for the events team based on event needs and staffing levels. Event Financial and Administrative Accountability I close out events accurately and completely at the conclusion of service. I ensure all checks are closed properly and that guest counts align with the BEO. I verify that additional items, add‑ons, and event‑related charges are accounted for and communicated correctly. I assist in protecting the accuracy of event billing by flagging discrepancies and following established procedures. I adjust clock‑ins and support accurate timekeeping for events staff to ensure payroll records are clean and complete. Guest Experience and Professionalism I deliver warm, attentive, and professional hospitality to guests throughout the event. I ensure hosts, guests, and vendors feel supported and well cared for. I remain composed, adaptable, and solutions‑focused in a fast‑paced event environment. I represent Elk Ave Hospitality with professionalism, confidence, and pride. I create events that leave guests happier when they leave than when they arrived. Qualifications Previous hospitality or event service experience required Previous leadership experience in restaurant service, banquets, catering, or events preferred Strong communication skills and the ability to lead and support a team during live service Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Professional demeanor and commitment to strong guest service Ability to remain calm, flexible, and effective in a fast‑paced environment Strong work ethic, reliability, and accountability Preferred Skills and Experience Experience with banquets, private dining, or catered event service Experience leading or directing service teams during events Strong understanding of front‑of‑house service standards and guest flow Ability to multitask, stay organized, and make decisions in real time Comfort working with event timelines, service notes, and changing guest needs Experience with setup, breakdown, and event logistics Experience closing checks, reconciling guest counts, and supporting event billing accuracy Experience with timekeeping, shift edits, or labor tracking is preferred Bartending or wine service knowledge is a plus Strong guest service instincts and a genuine interest in hospitality Physical and Position Requirements Must be able to stand and move continuously for extended periods of time Must be able to walk, bend, reach, stoop, and carry throughout each shift Must be able to lift and carry event materials, trays, glassware, tableside items, or supplies as needed Must be able to work efficiently in a fast‑paced event environment Must be capable of adjusting to changes in pace, priorities, and event needs Must be able to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as needed Must be able to support both indoor and outdoor event execution depending on venue and event type Important Position Information This is a part‑time, hourly, non‑exempt position paid at $28 per hour plus tips.
