POSITION SUMMARY The Events Supervisor performs professional level work organizing community events, community engagement and volunteer programs. Plans, organizes, implements, and coordinates all activities associated with community and business outreach, and community volunteer projects and events. Acts as the primary resource and coordinator for city-wide special events.

- Participates as an active member of the Parks, Recreation, Library and Golf Department team, contributing to strategic planning and operational oversight.
- Oversees and coordinates the planning, development, budgeting, and implementation of citywide special event programs and projects, serving as the City's primary point of contact for special events.
- Coordinates all aspects of citywide special events, including marketing, contracting, sponsorship solicitation, and post-event evaluation.
- Selects, negotiates with, and manages vendors and contractors, and monitors compliance with contract terms, deliverables, and timelines.
- Obtains and manages required special event permits, right-of-way and alcohol permits, and certificates of insurance from vendors and event partners; ensures events comply with ADA accessibility requirements.
- Develops event-specific risk management, crowd management, and emergency action plans in coordination with Police, Fire, and other public safety partners.
- Supervises assigned staff and volunteers, including scheduling, training, performance evaluation, and, when necessary, corrective action.
- Encourages resident, school, and business participation in community events, and develops educational materials for print and digital platforms.
- Delivers presentations to, and partners with, community groups, boards, and commissions to foster positive, two-way communication between the City, residents, and businesses.
- Works collaboratively with the community to develop solutions to ongoing issues, and maintains strong working relationships with City departments, City Council, and boards and commissions.
- Identifies volunteer opportunities and programs, and partners with departmental volunteer coordinators to recruit, train, deploy, and recognize volunteers.
- Serves as liaison with the Police Department, neighboring municipalities, and other local, state, and federal agencies on community engagement matters, ensuring compliance with applicable service level agreements.
- Develops and manages a comprehensive citywide Sponsorship Program that integrates sponsorship opportunities and collaboration across departments, and oversees the City's Naming Rights program.
- Monitors revenues and expenditures to ensure the effective and efficient use of budgeted funds, personnel, materials, facilities, and time.
- Researches and applies for grants supporting volunteer programs and community engagement initiatives, as directed.
- Provides support as requested for departmental events that support community engagement.
- Performs other duties as assigned and required.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum of three years of experience in community relations and/ or event management.
