They are actively expanding their outside mortgage origination team in the Lansing, MI market and are looking for a motivated, relationship-driven Mortgage Loan Originator to establish and grow their presence in the community. This is an opportunity for an up-and-coming producer to build a book, grow into the role, and be part of a team that invests in its people for the long haul.ResponsibilitiesProspect, build, and maintain relationships with realtors, builders, and community partners to generate self-sourced mortgage businessInterview applicants, take loan applications, and guide borrowers through the mortgage process from prequalification to closingRepresent the credit union at realtor and builder meetings, association events, and community networking functionsAnalyze lending situations to identify opportunities to further assist borrowers and deepen the member relationshipCross-sell additional credit union products and educate borrowers on the benefits of membershipEnsure all loan documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with applicable federal and state regulationsStay current on market trends, lending guidelines, and mortgage products; share relevant updates with appropriate team membersProvide periodic production reports and participate in product development and training initiatives as neededRequirements3–5 years of mortgage loan origination experience required — retail-to-mortgage transition candidates will not be considered for this marketActive NMLS license in the state of Michigan (or ability to obtain prior to start)Demonstrated track record of self-generated purchase business — primarily driven by realtor and community relationshipsBachelor's degree in Business or related field preferredStrong knowledge of mortgage loan programs, secondary market requirements, and federal/state lending regulations (including Regulation Z, FCRA, FHA/VA products)Excellent communication, organization, and time management skillsHighly self-motivated and comfortable operating with significant autonomy — no assigned office, minimal direct oversightHistory of institutional loyalty; this role is built for someone looking to grow with an organization, not a frequent moverProduction target: $8–12M annually Oxenham Group
