SUMMARY

Coordinates the activities of hotel personnel as directed and provides support to the General Manager by performing the following duties

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

70% - Management

• Motivates and encourages housekeeping staff
• Looks for areas to keep turnover in housekeeping down
• Maintain a high level of employee satisfaction in the housekeeping department, and assist in keeping a high level for the entire hotel/staff
• Assigns duties to staff and observes performance to ensure adherence to hotel policies and established operating procedures
• Provides training, including safety training, to staff
• Selects or assists in the selection of hotel staff and completes all new hire paperwork
• Reviews employee performance and conducts personnel actions such as disciplinary actions and terminations
• Maintains accurate records including room cleaning logs, daily cleaning assignments, hours for the department, lost and found, room complaints, staff write ups, and counseling conversations
• Attends weekly staff meetings
• Adheres to all franchise and company procedures and regulations as well as standard operating procedures
• Receives and resolves or assists in resolving guest complaints and employee issues
• Monitors Housekeeping spending to ensure the department stays within budget

30% - Other Duties as assigned

• Covers shifts in Housekeeping
• Corresponds with group and travel agents to answer special requests for rooms and rates
• Assists with sales and marketing efforts as directed
• Answers inquiries pertaining to housekeeping policies and services
• Assist in Budget conversatons
• All other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Associates degree or equivalent from two-year college, or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE ABILITY

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATH ABILITY

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

COMPUTER SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software; spreadsheet software and internet.
