RN - Behavioral Health Nurse - PT Nights

Join a compassionate healthcare team delivering professional nursing care to patients in a behavioral health setting during part-time night shifts. This role involves working under physician guidance to provide comprehensive patient care, mentoring new staff and students, and performing nursing duties within the scope defined by licensing boards.

Essential Responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate patient needs, maintaining detailed care plans aligned with unit competencies and policies.
• Promote patient independence by setting care goals and involving patients and families in discussions about medical issues, testing, medications, and self-care.
• Administer and manage medications accurately and timely, ensuring proper documentation.
• Educate patients and families on physical, emotional, and psychosocial aspects of care, including disease processes and symptom management.
• Observe and report changes in patients' physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual conditions.
• Maintain compliance with privacy regulations regarding Protected Health Information (PHI).
• Foster effective communication and professional relationships with patients, families, healthcare team members, and external agencies.

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) is required. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.

Experience

Previous experience in a similar behavioral health environment is preferred but not mandatory.

Licenses and Certifications

• Current Registered Nurse licensure in a compact state.
• Current BLS/CPR certification from an approved provider within 30 days of hire or by the end of orientation.
• Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, NIHSS, or AWHONN may be required depending on department policy.

Skills and Abilities

• Strong nursing principles application.
• Effective communication skills.
• Basic computer and keyboarding proficiency.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.

Physical Requirements

This role may require occasional heavy lifting up to 100 lbs and frequent standing or walking for 51-75% of the shift. Accommodations may be provided as needed.
