Crane TechnicianA Crane Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing crane systems to ensure the safe and reliable operation of equipment.Essential DutiesEquipment Maintenance & RepairPerform preventive and corrective maintenance on overhead cranes, electrical systems, PLC systems, and other equipment componentsRepair, replace, and inspect worn partsAdjust, maintain, repair, or replace subassemblies (e.g., hoist, brakes, control systems) using appropriate tools and equipmentRework overhead cranes to ensure optimal operating conditions and efficiencyDiagnostics & TroubleshootingDiagnose faults and malfunctions using engine diagnostic tools, including computerized test equipment and calibration devicesTroubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems to determine required repairsInspect cranes and other equipment to identify defects and performance issuesInspection & TestingTest equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturer specificationsPerform routine maintenance, complete periodic inspections, and update required documentationExamine parts for damage or excessive wear using precision tools such as micrometers and gaugesRoutine MaintenanceClean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance on cranes and related equipmentEnsure all equipment is properly maintained in accordance with company and safety standardsEquipment Operation & Material HandlingOperate cranes to assist with diagnostics and functional testingOperate hoists, forklifts, and hand trucks to handle, dismantle, and reassemble heavy materials and equipmentDocumentation & PlanningMaintain accurate maintenance records and equipment service documentationRead and interpret operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawingsCoordinate maintenance schedules to minimize equipment downtimeCoordination & CommunicationWork with project supervision to assess equipment needs and coordinate repairsEnsure maintenance activities align with operational and project demandsCompetenciesStrong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skillsKnowledge of overhead crane systems, PLCs, and industrial equipment maintenanceAbility to perform preventive and corrective maintenance activitiesExperience conducting inspections, testing, and equipment diagnosticsAbility to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manualsCommitment to safety, quality, and regulatory complianceStrong documentation, planning, and organizational skillsEffective communication and teamwork abilitiesAbility to prioritize work and minimize equipment downtimeExperience operating cranes, hoists, forklifts, and material handling equipment as requiredQualificationsEducation: Relevant training and certification from accredited institutionExperience: Minimum 5 years of crane/hoist experience, preferably in industrial environmentsExperience installing and maintaining cranes of all typesWorking Conditions & Physical RequirementsHeavy industrial worksite environmentExposure to outdoor elements, extreme heat and cold, dust, chemicals, and loud noiseStanding for extended periods; lifting, bending, crouching, climbing, and working in confined spacesRequired use of personal protective equipment (PPE)Safety-sensitive position; subject to pre-employment and reasonable-suspicion drug testingOvertime and flexible scheduling required
