Travel Nurse RN - Orthopedic Neurology - $2,281 per week

Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Orthopedic Neurology Discipline: RN Start Date: ASAP Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Estimated Gross Weekly Pay: $ 2281.36 Opportunity: RN - MedSurg Neuro Ortho Job Details: • 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM • Every other weekend required • No specific holiday requirement; may rotate in with core staff • Nurse-to-patient ratios: Day shift 1:4-5, Night shift 1:5-6 • Nurse aide support available: Day shift 1:6-7, Night shift 1:7-8 • Charge nurse available 24/7 and does not take a patient assignment; break nurse, house supervisor, and critical care outreach RN also available 24/7 • Remote telemetry monitored by a tele tech on a separate unit; nurses must have basic understanding of strip interpretation and lethal rhythms • No ventilators on unit; CPAP used at night for maintenance • Common diagnoses include strokes, spinal conditions, traumatic brain injuries, altered mental status, total joints, external fixation, and fractures • Stroke and neuro experience is required; total joint experience preferred (precautions, awareness, ambulating) • Night shift candidates strongly preferred to have both neuro and ortho experience along with travel experience • Travelers are first to float within skill set; may float to other med-surg units, ICU as a resource, ER for holds, or to various units as a sitter • No block scheduling; scheduling is based on department needs with no scheduling requests accommodated • Bedside report and hourly rounding are strongly emphasized; teamwork is essential • Unit orientation consists of 2 twelve-hour shifts • Charting system: EPIC • Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS preferred • Professional scrubs of any color required; no tattoos visible above the shoulders, only facial piercing allowed is a nose stud, and natural hair color required (no pink, blue, etc.) • BSN not required Facility: This acute care facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center offering comprehensive inpatient services across a range of specialties. The MedSurg Neuro Ortho unit features 34 beds and provides specialized care for patients with neurological and orthopedic conditions. The facility operates with robust support systems including 24/7 charge nurse coverage, house supervisors, and critical care outreach nursing to ensure high-quality patient care.
