The Weill Institute for Cell and Molecular Biology (WICMB) and the Department of Biomedical and Translational Sciences (BTS) at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY invite applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM).

We welcome candidates with a PhD or equivalent degree who will develop a research program that uses fundamental insights into cellular and molecular mechanisms to drive therapeutic discovery and development. Successful candidates will have expertise in one or more of cell, structural & molecular biology; in situ structural biology; chemical biology; and biomolecular engineering. Research programs may include the discovery and validation of new disease mechanisms and therapeutic targets, small-molecule and biologic discovery and/or delivery, development of organoid and animal models, and engineering of advanced targeted technologies for therapeutic use including but not limited to (epi)genome editing and protein degradation. The successful candidate is expected to develop a dynamic, externally funded research program; lead a vibrant group with a commitment to mentoring, career development of trainees, and inclusive climate; build collaborative connections across basic science and clinical science departments; and endeavor to establish an arm of the research program that advances the animal health goals of the CVM. The candidate will be expected to teach in the pharmacology and/or physiology focus areas.

The WICMB has a broad focus on cell and molecular biology and serves as a hub for molecular life sciences across the university. The Institute’s culture is highly collaborative and current research areas include cell signaling, cell morphogenesis and patterning, structural biology, mechanobiology, neurobiology, membrane trafficking, lipid metabolism, computational biology and protein networks, cell cycle and DNA damage in diverse biological systems spanning microbes to humans.

The BTS department conducts cutting-edge molecular & translational research and innovative teaching & mentoring to advance education and discovery in veterinary and human biomedicine in a collaborative scientific community. Current areas of research strength span cell, molecular, and structural biology; genetics & genomics; cancer biology; developmental biology; and reproductive sciences. The department has a history of leadership in the life sciences and in university-wide research initiatives, including partnerships with Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM).

Life sciences research at Cornell is supported by state-of-the-art facilities, including those for computational biology, genomics, epigenomics, proteomics, metabolomics, single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, microscopy/imaging, histology, flow cytometry, transgenic mouse models, patient-derived xenograft models, and non-traditional animal models. The university is also home to very strong graduate programs, numerous thriving interdisciplinary centers, and a highly interactive and cooperative research culture.

The salary range for this full-time 12 month/year, tenure-track appointment is $140,000-$226,200. Offers higher than the published salary range might be considered to meet unique circumstances, qualifications, academic discipline, and experience.
