Provides necessary building maintenance construction services to maintain the hospital’s building and when necessary to repair, renovate and construct the hospital’s physical plant and its content to provide a livable and workable environment for employees, patients, and the community served. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. Must have a current valid driver's license PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. High school education or equivalent EXPERIENCE: 2. Two (2) years of technical school training in trades and/or a minimum of ten years of appropriate commercial/residential construction experience preferred. 3. Must be skilled in all areas of carpentry and general construction. 4. Must be capable and skilled in functions noted but not limited to the following. Office, room, building layout and planning Rough framing – metal & wood Finished carpentry Drywall installation and finishing Casework installation Countertop installation Lay-in ceiling installation Carpet/VCT/vinyl floor covering installation Concrete work and finishing Brick and block work Construction supervision Project take-off and estimating project management 5. Must be familiar with tools, identification and use, related building codes, general mechanical repairs, machine operations and preventive maintenance gained through direct contact in a maintenance shop or maintenance activities. Hospital experience preferred. CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Responsible for performing all types of general carpentry work, including, but not limited to, sheetrock work, framing, spackling/taping, suspended ceilings, masonry, flooring, roofing, cabinetry, door hardware and locksmithing. 2. Supervises general maintenance workers by allocating and coordinating work flow, training, and advising, in more complex repair work throughout the hospital. 3. Provides preventive and corrective repair work throughout the hospital. 4. Has access to, and is responsible for, performing assigned duties in locked medication rooms. This position is aware that they are not responsible for medications, and they should report any unsecured medications to a licensed professional. 5.
