Contract Length: 12 months, potential for extension
Location: Onsite - Austin, TX 78744
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Geographic Requirement: Must be located within 50 miles of Austin, TX. No relocation assistance available.
Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
Background: Must pass a satisfactory standard criminal background check upon hire.

PLEASE NOTE: SNOWFLAKE AND AWS SERVERLESS EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION.

GTS customer is seeking a Senior Snowflake Architect to support a public sector environment. This is a hands-on ownership role on a mature, production-grade Snowflake data warehouse built on AWS serverless architecture, four years in operation. You will administer, architect, and evolve the platform, not just design it.

This is a fully hands-on ownership role involving architecture, administration, deployment, governance participation, and platform evolution.

This role serves as the technical bridge between the Data Management, Cloud, and Network teams, helping drive architecture decisions and future-focused solutions across the environment.

The ideal candidate has senior-level Snowflake architect experience, strong hands-on AWS serverless skills, and the ability to guide data engineers and analysts on implementation best practices while owning solutions end to end.

The Platform

• Snowflake: centralized data warehouse, commercial cloud, role-based access, 4 years in production
• AWS serverless architecture: Lambda, Glue, CloudWatch
• Active machine learning and AI workloads integrated into the platform
• Agile delivery with Architectural Review Board (ARB) and Change Advisory Board (CAB) governance
• Team of 18 to 20 people including data engineers, analysts, AI and ML engineers, and business stakeholders

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, provision, maintain, and architect using Snowflake at a senior level
• Guide data engineers and analysts on AWS serverless implementation best practices including Lambda, Glue, and CloudWatch
• Perform code reviews and manage deployments within the data platform
• Establish permissions and implement frameworks
• Serve as the technical bridge between the Data Management, Cloud, and Network teams
• Participate in Architectural Review Board and Change Advisory Board processes
• Contribute to machine learning and AI workloads on the platform
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define architecture direction and support current and future platform initiatives

Required Qualifications

• 10 or more years of experience with enterprise data management architecture, solution development, and implementing solutions based on emerging technologies
• Senior-level Snowflake architect experience: administration, provisioning, maintenance, and processing at ownership level
• Strong hands-on AWS serverless architecture experience: Lambda, Glue, and CloudWatch
• Code review and deployment management experience in a data platform environment
• Experience working within an Architectural Review Board or similar technical governance and approval process
• Agile team experience
• Must be currently located within 50 miles of Austin, TX and available to work onsite 100% onsite

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 or more years of experience supporting state or local government agencies
• Large-scale real-time or streaming data processing experience, such as continuous data ingestion, event-driven pipelines, or tools like Apache Kafka, AWS Kinesis, or Apache Flink
• Transportation industry background
• Machine learning or AI integration experience on a data platform
