The ideal candidate will have proven industry experience as a Machinist. The Lead Machinist assist the Machine Shop Supervisor in managing production for particular job or set of products. They recommend strategies in ensuring that the production process is completed successfully, in accordance with all specifications.

Essential duties and responsibilities include operating and maintaining CNC Lathe machines, reviewing drawings, instructions, blueprints or samples to ensure accurate production, taking precise measurements for cutting or shaping using SMI, calipers, mics, and height gages, setting up jobs and selecting appropriate settings for a given task, reading and understanding sketches, drawings, and work instructions, monitoring production, adjusting feed and other settings as necessary and verifying results, checking output for quality assurance and documenting or discarding defects, identifying need for and performing machine maintenance and minor repairs, making decisions independently as required, safely performing tasks, following applicable safety practices, policies, and safe work behavior, maintaining a safe and clean workstation, contributing to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed, recommending strategies to ensure the product is developed successfully, in accordance with all specifications, working with supervisor and other team leads to prioritize staffing assignments to ensure customer demand and the production schedules are met, reporting problems or concerns with quality, processes, equipment, materials and labor to Machine Shop Supervisor, working closely with support staff such as Technicians, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Supervisor, Program Managers, Planners and Materials/Warehouse to resolve issues, multi-tasking, taking initiative, and communicating clearly with your team and management, training and mentoring new team members.

Education and experience requirements include minimum of 1 year experience as a lathe operator or technician, ability to read, speak and write in English.

Required responsibilities include monitoring production in the CNC Lathe department, experience setting up and operating CNC Lathe is required, conventional machining experience is a plus, excellent coordination and mechanical skills, strong attention to detail, accuracy, and safety, solid written and verbal communication skills, current or active security clearance is a plus, proficient in math, basic computer skills, understand GD&T, machining training is a plus, experience on HAAS equipment is a plus, composite experience is a plus, previous experience in a manufacturing environment is a requirement, in the aerospace industry is a plus, programming is a plus.

High School Diploma or GED is required.
