Medical Instrument Technician (Diagnostic Ultrasound)

Summary The Wilmington VA Medical Center is recruiting for a Medical Instrument Technician (Diagnostic Ultrasound) who will function in the Diagnostic Imaging Service. Essential Qualifications Citizenship of the United States. At least 1 year of experience comparable to GS‑4/GS‑5 levels. Licensure or certification is not required, but highly desirable at GS‑6 or above (e.g., CCI, ARDMS). Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certifications desirable. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Ability to operate diagnostic ultrasound equipment, perform vascular and general ultrasound examinations, maintain equipment, assist with biopsies, and keep accurate records. Duties Perform general ultrasound examinations of abdomen, neck, chest, pelvis, retroperitoneal, extremities, and vascular studies of arterial and carotid systems. Maintain and clean ultrasound probes according to SOP. Assist radiologists with cyst punctures, aspiration, biopsies, and vacuum‑assisted procedures. Complete routine clerical procedures for accurate record‑keeping. Work a 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. schedule Monday through Friday, with evenings, nights, and weekends as required.
