SALARY RANGE: $55,000 – 62,000

POSITION SUMMARY:

Supports administration of coordination of leave and disability plans ensuring compliance with federal and state laws.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists employees who communicate a need for a leave of absence. Handle related employee and business partner notifications
• Monitors and documents leaves of absences to ensure compliance with Federal, State and local laws, regulations and company policies.
• Works closely with employees and leadership through return to work process.
• Ensures all activity is input through the appropriate leave modules and monitors activity in the resource data center.
• Ensures all approved leaves are accurately entered into timekeeping.
• Partners with department leadership on all complex leaves of absence
• Supports coordination of leaves of absence with Risk Management for employees involved in the workers compensation program.
• Communicates and manages return to work restrictions, modifications and accommodation needs.
• Owns case management of the ADA interactive process under general supervision, including communicating with employees, providing and tracking ADA paperwork, and conducting timely follow-up through case resolution.
• Partners with employees, managers and business leaders throughout the interactive process to evaluate and determine reasonable accommodations, documenting outcomes and monitoring accommodations for effectiveness.
• Manages flow of information into the HRIS including data entry, retrieval and generation of needed reports.
• Prepares and distributes monthly and annual reports, including a matrix of leave claims and hours, to payroll, union and finance partners to support accurate pay processing, contractual reporting and financial tracking.
• Serves as the audit liaison for internal and external audits.
• Research, analyze and organize information and present meaningful conclusions and recommendations.
• Understand and interpret complex regulations and standards and administer programs managed to comply with those guidelines.
• Maintain a high degree of accuracy in work performed with frequent interruptions and have an enthusiasm to work in a team environment building technical experience by collaborating with others on difficult cases or benefit problems.
• Ability to use PC and software applications such as MS Office, Excel and HRIS database programs such as Kronos.
• Excellent written communication and presentation skills.
• Outstanding organization skills are required to effectively manage competing priorities, responsibilities and workload.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver excellent customer service including experience in using diplomacy and tact to effectively avoid or diffuse high-tension situations.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality and deal with sensitive employee situations with an appropriate level of compassion and professionalism.
• Working knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements including ERISA, HIPPA, COBRA, ADAAA, FMLA, SECTION 125 requirements.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Associate’s Degree in business or related field is preferred.
• Minimum three (3) years of experience in benefit and/or leave administration, HR compliance and administrative support work is required.
• Combinations of the experience and training that would provide the knowledge and skills required will be considered.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work is conducted in a dynamic, fast-paced on site office setting with moderate to loud noise levels from production activity in the shipyard. There may be times where the individual will be in production areas. The incumbent must be able to walk to and from job sites. Also, the incumbent may be required to work more than 8-hour shifts and weekend work. On occasions the incumbent may be required to lift up to 20 pounds. There may be the need to travel locally up to 10% of the time (including air travel). WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment for this job is potentially hazardous due to travel to and inside ships as well as travel around ship repair yard. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
