Lead Low Voltage Technician

Company vehicle provided $18-34 per hour Contract-to-hire Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Low Voltage Technician to oversee and execute complex low-voltage electrical systems installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting within diverse telecommunications and networking environments. This pivotal role requires a proactive leader capable of managing field service operations, guiding technical teams, and ensuring the seamless integration of communication systems. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of structured cabling, fiber optic systems, network wiring, and telecommunications equipment, with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities Lead and coordinate installation, testing, and troubleshooting of low-voltage systems including CCTV, fiber optic networks, Ethernet cabling, VoIP telephony, and structured cabling infrastructure. Supervise field service technicians to ensure adherence to project specifications, safety standards, and quality benchmarks. Interpret technical schematics, wiring diagrams, and network layouts to facilitate accurate system setup and diagnostics. Perform fiber splicing, cable termination, equipment troubleshooting, and repairs on telecommunications systems. Utilize diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters, network analyzers, and RF testers to identify issues within complex electrical and communication systems. Conduct equipment testing using telecommunications testing equipment to verify system performance and compliance with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards. Manage the installation of low-voltage electrical wiring for data centers, communication rooms, and other facilities while ensuring compliance with NEC regulations. Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, test results, and service reports for project records and client handovers. Provide technical guidance on the use of Cisco routers, Juniper devices, Avaya systems, and other networking hardware. Support customer service efforts by communicating effectively with clients regarding system status, troubleshooting steps, and maintenance procedures. Qualifications Extensive experience with CCTV installation and maintenance; fiber splicing; Ethernet cabling including Cat5e/Cat6; structured cabling installation; network wiring; cable termination; telecommunication system setup. Proficiency in reading schematics and technical diagrams related to low-voltage electrical systems. Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts including LAN/WAN configurations; Cisco routers; Juniper devices; VoIP systems; Avaya telephony solutions. Skilled in using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters, RF testers, power meters, and telecommunication testing equipment for troubleshooting. Familiarity with fiber optic systems installation and testing; fiber optic splicing techniques; fiber optic cable management. Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues involving AC/DC systems; use of power tools; hand tools for precise installations. Experience with network installation in data centers or large-scale facilities; understanding of NEC standards for electrical safety. Excellent customer service skills combined with the ability to lead teams effectively in fast-paced environments. Knowledge of IT hardware components related to telecommunication infrastructure; experience with network wiring standards including Cat5e/Cat6 cabling. Strong organizational skills for managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high-quality standards.
