Job Title: Senior Maintenance Technician III – Mechanical & Robotics
Job Description

This role leads a team of service technicians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of automated packaging and distribution equipment within a fast-paced material handling environment. You will support operations by designing solutions for complex technical problems, overseeing projects, and ensuring the reliability and safety of mechanical, pneumatic, and control systems that keep the facility running efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor junior and mid-level service technicians, providing technical guidance, on-the-job training, and support in daily maintenance activities.
• Install, maintain, and repair automated packaging and distribution equipment, including conveyor and material handling systems, pneumatic systems, and related mechanical and control components.
• Conduct predictive and preventative maintenance procedures on material handling equipment (MHE) to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex issues with MHE, automated conveyor systems, pneumatic systems, and control systems using appropriate tools, test equipment, and documentation.
• Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical manuals to plan and execute maintenance and repair tasks accurately.
• Design and implement solutions for difficult mechanical and controls problems, recommending improvements to increase equipment reliability, safety, and performance.
• Support the Operations Maintenance team by managing and participating in maintenance and improvement projects from planning through completion.
• Use a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to document work orders, track maintenance activities, and maintain accurate equipment history.
• Apply and uphold established safety standards and best practices in all maintenance activities, promoting a strong safety culture within the team.
• Collaborate with operations and other cross-functional teams to minimize equipment downtime and support production goals.
• Perform maintenance management and preventative maintenance planning to ensure critical equipment is inspected and serviced on schedule.

Essential Skills

• 4+ years of experience repairing and maintaining material handling equipment (MHE) and pneumatic systems.
• 4+ years of experience installing, maintaining, and repairing automated packaging and distribution equipment.
• 4+ years of experience conducting predictive and preventative maintenance procedures.
• 4+ years of experience repairing material handling equipment (MHE), automated conveyor systems, or related mechanical and controls equipment.
• 4+ years of experience reading blueprints and electrical schematics.
• 4+ years of experience consistently demonstrating and adhering to safety standards.
• 3+ years of experience troubleshooting and performing diagnostics on material handling equipment (MHE).
• Experience with maintenance management, preventative maintenance planning, conveyor maintenance, automation, and control systems.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidays, as required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience using Microsoft Office products and applications.
• Ability to mentor and support junior technicians in a hands-on environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) for tracking and documenting maintenance activities.
• Exposure to or understanding of Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to design practical solutions for complex mechanical and controls issues.
• Solid communication skills to effectively coordinate with technicians, operations staff, and other stakeholders.
• Attention to detail when reading technical documentation, blueprints, and electrical schematics.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and promoting safety best practices.

Work Environment

You work in a large, automated distribution and packaging facility that relies on material handling equipment, conveyor systems, pneumatic components, and control systems to support high-volume operations. The role is physically active and requires you to stand and walk for shifts of up to 12 hours and move items weighing up to 49 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. You follow a flexible schedule that may include nights, weekends, and holidays to support around-the-clock operations. The environment emphasizes safety, with company-provided lightweight fire-resistant daily wear and composite toe safety shoes to protect you while working around mechanical and electrical equipment.

This is a Contract position based out of Victorville, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $42.65 - $42.65/hr.
