ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join our Intensive Care Unit team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in critical care nursing and demonstrate the ability to provide exceptional care to critically ill patients.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients in the ICU, including assessments, interventions, and evaluations.
Administer medications and IV drips, including critical infusions such as Cardizem, dobutamine, dopamine, and TPA.
Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms using Nihon Kohden monitors at the bedside.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including hospitalists and intensivists, to ensure the best patient outcomes.
Assist with the care of high-acuity patients, maintaining a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2 or 1:1 as necessary.
Participate in bedside report and maintain clear communication with team members during shift changes.
Float to Telemetry or occasionally to the Emergency Room as needed.
Ensure adherence to safety protocols and best practices, particularly related to stroke and cardiac care bundles.

Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of experience in an ICU setting required.
1 year of travel nursing experience preferred.
Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and LA City Fire & Safety are mandatory.
Knowledge of basic dysrhythmias and pharmacology is preferred.
Experience with sheath pulling and familiarity with ventilator management is preferred.

Shift Details

12-hour shifts: Day shift (7 AM to 7 PM).
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend.
Holiday Requirement: Expected to work 2 out of 3 major holidays.

Unit Information

Unit type: Intensive Care Unit with a total of 32 private rooms.
Nurse aides are not available on the unit.
24/7 availability of Pharmacy and Respiratory Therapy services.
Unit relies on Cerner for electronic medical records.
Preference for self-confident nurses who can adapt to a diverse team, including a significant population of Filipino staff members.

Additional Notes

Knowledge of preventative bundles for stroke and cardiac patients, including the ABCDE and VAP bundles, is essential.
Floor-specific orientation of 2 days is provided for those with Cerner experience.
