Job Description

The Ambulatory Registered Nurse (RN) will provide comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care in an outpatient clinic setting, supporting individuals and families across the continuum of care. This role requires the application of the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care while utilizing effective communication and collaboration skills in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care.
• Implement and evaluate nursing interventions and patient responses.
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately per provider orders and policy.
• Recognize changes in patient conditions and initiate appropriate interventions or escalation of care.
• Deliver patient and family education related to care, medications, and discharge needs.
• Ensure quality outcomes and promote patient safety through culturally responsive care.

Nursing Judgment and Clinical Decision-Making

• Apply critical thinking and professional judgment in the safe delivery of nursing care.
• Perform and interpret comprehensive assessments; recognize significant changes in patient conditions.
• Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise individualized nursing care plans based on patient needs.
• Integrate clinical findings with ethical principles, cultural considerations, and patient safety standards.
• Accept accountability for nursing decisions and outcomes in accordance with applicable statutes and regulations.

Care Coordination and Documentation

• Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care effectively.
• Facilitate referrals, follow-up care, and ensure continuity of services.
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes accurately and timely in the electronic health record.
• Advocate for patient care and assist patients in navigating the healthcare system.

Quality, Safety, and Compliance

• Practice within the nursing scope and adhere to regulatory, safety, and infection prevention requirements.
• Participate in quality and performance improvement activities.
• Maintain required competencies and certifications; report any adverse events and unsafe conditions as per policy.

Teamwork and Professional Practice

• Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, flexibility, and teamwork.
• Provide appropriate guidance and delegation to ancillary staff.
• Support the orientation, mentoring, and education of staff, students, and peers.
• Be willing to float to other departments or assignments as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nursing license in Alaska or another U.S. state.
• Minimum of 1 year of case management experience in a clinical setting, within the last 2 years.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Case Management certification preferred.

Education and Certifications

• Current full and unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska or other U.S. state required.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
