Equipment OperatorCompany: SULLY-MILLERJob Location: IRWINDALE, CALIFORNIA, USAType of Contract: RegularCompensation: $39.58 per hourJob Summary: As a member of the reclamation and/or aggregate crew, the Equipment Operator is expected to safely and efficiently operate various pieces of mobile equipment. Activities include completing pre-trip/post-trip inspections, and operating equipment while completing site related reclamation, production, and sales activities. As a member of the team, the equipment operator may be required to assist with maintenance, repair, operations, and housekeeping around the plant as requested by Reclamation Superintendent or Aggregate Manager.Shift: 12:00pm - 8:30pm *With overtime and weekend work requirements.Main Responsibilities:Complete daily pre/ post equipment inspections - report as neededEnsure areas under your scope of responsibility remain in environmental compliance and complete any needed environmental reportsEnsure fill is placed in accordance with Fill Operating Plan (FOP) and regulatory guidelinesEnsure site remains compliant with all MSHA, OSHA and EPA standardsInspect equipment prior to shift for safety, environmental and maintenance defectsInspect wear items on equipment & report as needed to shop, foreman, and managementLoad hoppers and trucks with limited spillageMaintain adequate cleanliness of equipmentPerform housekeeping (clean, shovel, remove trash and debris) to ensure a safe, clean and compliant operationReport any defects to shop, foreman and managementMonitor ground conditions in area you are operatingOther duties as assignedEducation and/or Work Experience:3-5 years previous mobile equipment operational experience on various models of bull dozers, excavators, loaders, blades, RTD'sFor Excavators- Must be able to set and load trucks efficiently to optimize production and be able of utilizing rock breaker and/or processor attachmentsFor Dozers- Must be able to carry a flat grade and adapt to fluctuating terrain including steep slopes. Be able to finish slopes with a slope board.For Loaders- Must be able to minimize overloading of customer's trucks and remaining compliant with DOT weight restrictionsFor RTD- Must be able to carry, cut and fill grade as needed and re-grade stakes. Must be able to coordinate and import trucks for proper placement on fill. Must be able to operate machine with little or no supervision Must be able to read grade stakes and carry a gradeMust have a valid driver's license and be able to drive company vehicleMust understand all of your controls and have experience with various types of equipment accessories/blades/attachmentsUse bucket scales to optimize truck loadingSkills:Ability to understand and follow Company Handbook and Safety PoliciesAbility to work well with othersMust be able to follow oral and written plans and directionsMust have a strong mechanical aptitudeMust have a strong, team-oriented work ethic with strong focus on safety and environmental compliancePreferred knowledge of GPSUnderstands MSHA and OSHA regulationsPhysical Requirements:Ability to utilize hands and fingers in order to type and carry reports should the need requireAbility to stand, walk, and reach with arms and hands throughout the workday should the need ariseAbility to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch should the need ariseAbility to sit for a long period of time, possibly more than 90% of the workdayAbility to see clearly or with assistance via necessary correctionColas Inc. and its subsidiaries are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
