Responsibilities
CPT I must follow the CA Codes to work in the laboratory. The Certified Phlebotomy Technician I works more frequently with patients and collects samples for analysis in the clinical laboratory and is under the supervision of a licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist. This person performs: computer entry, filing, telephone communication and other clerical duties; may work alone or in various size groups on any shift on any day of the week under direct supervision of a Clinical Laboratory Scientist; should demonstrate adequate knowledge of the usual terminology of tests ordered in the laboratory; demonstrate good telephone etiquette and be able to greet patients and other visitors in a polite and friendly manner; have good communication skills; demonstrate good working knowledge of phlebotomy and the equipment used in collecting specimens from newborns to geriatric patients; processing microbiology, immunology, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry and blood bank specimens; processing specimens for reference laboratory; stocking and ordering of routine supplies; keep storage areas, trays, centrifuges, refrigerators, freezers and collection areas clean; must be able to move throughout the facility without assistance and perform blood collection in a safe and efficient manner; process or place specimens on laboratory instrumentation in accordance with established policy and procedures. Special projects or other assignments may be given with expectations to be completed in a specified timeframe.
Qualifications
Education, Experience, Training
1. Certificate of CPT 1 in the State of California.
2. Minimum 1 year clinical laboratory experience preferred, but new graduate acceptable.
3. BCLS upon hire.

Centinela Hospital Medical Center offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package that provides employees the flexibility to tailor benefits according to their individual needs. Our Total Rewards package includes, but is not limited to, paid time off, a 401K retirement plan, medical, dental, and vision coverage, tuition reimbursement, and many more voluntary benefit options. Benefits may vary based on collective bargaining agreement requirements and/or the employment status, i.e. full-time or part-time. The current compensation range for this role is $25.70 to $25.70. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
