At Technox, this position plays a critical role in producing complex, oversized precision components while supporting high-quality machining operations in a shop known for large horizontal boring mills, vertical turning lathes, planer mills, and heavy fabrication capabilities. This is an opportunity to work on the kind of large-scale machining projects that few shops in the Midwest can handle. --- The Work You’ll Be Doing In this role, you will: Set up and operate CNC horizontal boring mills for large-part machining applications Work from blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to machine precision components Edit and troubleshoot CNC programs as needed at the machine Verify tooling, workholding, offsets, and machine setup before production Machine large and complex components for industrial and heavy manufacturing applications Perform first-article and in-process inspections using precision measuring equipment Maintain dimensional accuracy and part quality throughout the machining process Collaborate with programmers, machinists, fabrication personnel, and quality teams to improve processes and workflow Troubleshoot machining issues and make adjustments to feeds, speeds, tooling, and offsets as needed Maintain a safe, organized, and professional work environment --- Machines, Controls & Software You’ll work with equipment such as: CNC Horizontal Boring Mills Toshiba BTD 200QH Toshiba BTD 13F.R22 Toshiba BTH 110.R18 Full 5th-axis indexing HBMs Additional Shop Equipment Large Vertical Turning Lathes (up to 152” swing) CNC Vertical Machining Centers Planer Mills Manual and CNC Boring Mills Heavy-duty fabrication and repair equipment Software & Programming Mastercam G-code programming CAD/CAM-based machining workflows Inspection Equipment Calipers Micrometers Gauges Precision measuring instruments CMM inspection equipment Technox operates one of the more unique heavy-machining equipment lineups in the Midwest, including large Toshiba HBMs, massive VTLs, planer mills, and crane-served machining capabilities. --- Materials You’ll Work With Steel Stainless Steel Cast Iron Aluminum Bronze Brass Copper Nickel alloys Inconel Hastelloy Plastics --- What We’re Looking For Required CNC machining experience with horizontal machining centers or horizontal boring mills Experience with large-part machining Strong understanding of CNC programming, Mastercam, and G-code Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings Experience using precision measuring tools and inspection equipment Strong setup, tooling, and troubleshooting abilities Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality Ability to work independently and as part of a team Safety-minded attitude and strong work ethic Preferred Experience with Toshiba boring mills or large HBMs Experience machining oversized or heavy industrial components Familiarity with fabrication or repair machining environments Multi-axis machining experience Experience with crane-served machining operations --- Why Machinists Like Working Here Machinists choose Technox because of the variety of work, large-scale equipment, and hands-on machining environment.
