Advanced Heavy-Duty Truck Service Tech

Overview This position is primarily responsible for performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing, and repairing heavy‑duty trucks. TEC offers in‑house advanced training opportunities and a family‑oriented work environment. Responsibilities Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostic tests to troubleshoot issues and repair vehicles to proper operating condition. Perform routine and preventative maintenance services; identify worn and damaged parts, including major components, and repair, adjust, or replace as needed. Troubleshoot with diagnostic software – charging systems, brakes, suspensions, A/C system. Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs. Adhere to shop quality and efficiency standards. Maintain a safe and organized work area. Follow state and federal vehicle requirements, testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards; comply with company policies, procedures, safety, and EPA regulations. Use all necessary safety equipment for the job. Stay current on technical skills by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical and regulation publications. Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems. Qualifications Minimum 3–6 years of practical experience in commercial 6 & 8 truck classes. Ability to perform preventative maintenance services such as oil and transmission changes, replacement of light body components and lights & sensors. Proficiency in repair and diagnosis of diesel engines; interior & exterior cab components, hydraulic systems, steering systems, and brakes. Proficiency in use of all tools of trade. Basic computer skills for inputting vehicle maintenance records and using diagnostic software. Ability to provide detailed written analysis and computer input of the three C’s (complaint, cause, correction) as well as details on any repairs. Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb, stoop, kneel, see, grasp, hear, etc. Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision. Reliable attendance and safe, alert work habits. Valid driver’s license; meets insurance requirements. CDL license preferred but not required. Compensation The base pay range for this position is $27.74 to $34.67.
