KCG Search is recruiting for an established and highly respected construction company in Tustin, CA, seeking an experienced Project Accountant with a strong Accounts Receivable (AR) background .

This position is ideal for an accounting professional who has hands-on experience with construction collections, project billing, lien releases, and customer account management .

The primary focus of this role is Accounts Receivable, including managing outstanding balances, following up on collections, processing customer billings, and working directly with project managers and customers to ensure timely payments.

Candidates with backgrounds as a Construction Accounts Receivable Specialist, AR Accountant, Project Accountant, or Construction Billing Specialist are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage Accounts Receivable collections for multiple construction projects, including proactive follow-up on outstanding balances.
• Communicate directly with customers and project management teams to resolve payment delays and collection issues.
• Prepare, process, and record AR billings accurately and on time.
• Track outstanding receivables and provide daily updates on collection activity.
• Collect, process, and maintain high volumes of construction lien releases and related documentation.
• Maintain accurate project billing records, customer accounts, and collection logs.
• Research and resolve billing discrepancies, payment issues, and customer account questions.
• Coordinate with internal project managers and accounting teams to support project accounting activities.
• Assist with Accounts Payable functions, including vendor payments, subcontractor invoices, and purchase order issues.
• Support additional accounting responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

Required:

• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience in the construction industry.
• Strong hands-on experience with Accounts Receivable, collections, and customer billing .
• Knowledge of construction lien releases and related payment documentation.
• Experience communicating directly with customers regarding outstanding invoices and payments.
• Working knowledge of construction project accounting and Accounts Payable.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership of AR responsibilities, and collaborate with project management teams.

Preferred:

• Experience with Sage 300 CRE (Timberline) or Sage Paperless Construction.
• Background in commercial construction, structural concrete, or specialty subcontracting.
• Experience with high-volume billing, collections, and lien release processing.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to collections.

• Annual base salary: $75,000–$100,000 , depending on qualifications and experience.
