Neurodiagnostic Lab Tech/EEG PRN

Job Summary The Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist I is responsible for performing Electroencephalograms (EEGs) and/or Evoked Potentials (EPs) studies in the laboratory and at the bedside of patients. The role includes video/EEG monitoring, routine topographic brain mapping studies, and ambulatory monitoring. The technologist must be able to describe the waveforms and patterns relevant to their credential but is not responsible for interpretation or clinical correlation of the data. Core Responsibilities Sets up and performs test procedures with little to no supervision. Identifies and performs basic and intermediate technical troubleshooting and artifact removal. Understands and follows concepts of digital equipment and electrical safety within the EEG unit. Applies alternate montages, protocols, and equipment settings and understands their effects. Uses photic stimulation and hyperventilation appropriately. Repairs or replaces bad electrodes, removes electrodes, and cleans up the patient after the EEG. Familiar with the protocols for completion of the technical EEG report, charging procedures, and logging the patient into files. Recognizes clinically significant EEG events and intervenes when appropriate. Maintains patient safety through communication with other patient‑care staff during the EEG if needed. Contacts higher level staff as necessary for problems within the EEG unit. Stocks supplies and prepares patient rooms for EEG procedures. Performs any other related duties that are consistent with patient and technical care for this level. Calls the Bio‑med department with any equipment problems and maintenance issues. Communicates with physicians regarding the EEG study results. Completes other duties as assigned and complies with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct. Completes all mandatory hospital and/or system mandatory requirements. Required Minimum Education High School Diploma. Graduation from a general accredited neuroscience program. Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s) All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated. Required Minimum Experience Graduate of an approved neurodiagnostic technology program with less than one year clinical experience in an neurodiagnostic lab setting (preferred). Required Minimum Skills Well‑developed PC and Microsoft Windows knowledge (keyboard skills). Customer service skills and ability to function without much supervision.
