About the Position

Job Title: PCU/Stepdown Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year in PCU or Stepdown License: Valid State License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience with cardiac drip management and titration Ability to float between units if required Availability to work every other weekend Description: Stepdown or PCU nurses are needed with cardiac drip experience. Managing and titrating cardiac drips is a hardstop requirement. Float requirements apply if overstaffed; travelers may float to telemetry or medical-surgical floors. Working every other weekend is required. The expected patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:4 to 1:5. Special skills include BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, and cardiac telemetry. Central line care and management, high flow nasal cannula, and interpretation of arterial blood gases are essential. Nurses should be able to manage vasoactive drips and have experience with chest tubes and surgical drains. Unit support includes various interdisciplinary teams such as physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Patient diagnoses may include CHF, atrial fibrillation, and chest pain rule-out for myocardial infarction. Nurses must be committed to providing high-quality care in a fast-paced environment. Compliance with all unit policies and procedures is mandatory. Flexibility regarding scheduling and responsibilities is expected. Maintaining a positive attitude and fostering teamwork are crucial for success in this role.
