Job Summary As a Paramedic in the Emergency Department (ED) at HCA Florida University Hospital, you will assist with patient care under the direction of the RN, performing emergency care procedures and Advanced Life Support under physician direction. You are responsible for patient safety, maintaining knowledge and skills up to date, and ensuring proper communication of patient status. Responsibilities Demonstrate appropriate priorities of care when admitting patients to the Emergency Department. Assist in meeting and maintaining patient comfort needs, i.e. toileting, nutrition, pain management, rest positioning. Recognize signs of withdrawal and/or abuse of drugs and alcohol and report to ED Nurse/physician. Identify and report signs and symptoms of abuse and neglect to ED nurse/physician. Distinguish abnormal vital signs and inform the ED nurse or physician. Display knowledge of the specific conditions, diseases, and treatment therapies for the specific patient population of the Emergency Department. Qualifications Current Paramedic license in the State of Florida or Emergency Medical Paramedic (EMP). Graduate from an accredited school for paramedics. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date. PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date. Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
