DevOps Engineer

Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a DevOps engineer to join a Fortune 500 fintech company. This is a REMOTE role. On a day to day basis this individual will join the company's site reliability team to complete 3 large projects:

1. Migrate newest acquisition Centos 7.x OS role images to Oracle Linux:

a) Consult with current newest TechOps teams on the role images to determine any special use cases.

b) Migrate the Packer, Puppet, and Terraform code to work with Oracle Linux

c) As part of the migration the testing suites need to be updated to conform to acquisitions & company Jenkins pipeline standards

1. Migrate newest acquisition from Puppet 3.8.7 to latest opensource Puppet 7

a) Re-work when necessary to migrate current roles, profiles, modules into Puppet 7 standards

b) Recode as necessary any puppet modules to work with Puppet 7

c) Use any approved opensource puppet module from Puppetlabs when appropriate over the continuation of the in-house written module.

d) consult with the role & profile owners to determine what's is needed

e) As part of the migration the testing suites need to be updated to conform to newest acquisition & company's Jenkins pipeline standards

1. Migrating newest acquisition Bitbucket to company's GitHub

a) Migrate newest acquisition Bitbucket repositories over to the company's

b) Re-work the PR structure in company's GitHub

c) Update Jenkins pipelines to use company's GitHub

e) As part of the migration the testing suites need to be updated to conform to acquisition & company's Jenkins pipeline standards.

Skills and Requirements

• 5-10 years of experience as a DevOps Engineer

-- Expert Puppet 3.x and Puppet 5+ (3+ years of experience)

• Experienced modifying Puppet modules & Ruby libraries within Puppet

• Experienced creating and modifying Images in Packer (1+ year of experience)

• Experienced working with Terraform (1+ year of experience)

• Previously worked in a DevOps environment

• Experienced handling RPM conflict resolution with regards to migrating images/machines from one Linux distro to another.

• Experienced with Git (added value if familiar with enterprise versions of Bitbucket and GibHub)

• Experienced with Branching and PRs with respect to Git and linkage to Jira
