Registered Nurse – Surgical Services (Circulator) The Registered Nurse is responsible, accountable, and expected to direct, delegate, and coordinate all nursing care for LPN, CNA, patient care companion, and unit clerk, ensuring delivery consistent with roles, responsibilities, and skill level. Assignments are made considering the age and developmental level of the patient population being served. Key Responsibilities Assess patients on admission and ongoing basis; monitor status, document assessment data, and evaluate patient/family response to interventions. Plan and coordinate individualized care based on assessment, involving families or significant others as desired. Initiate family‑included teaching plans for positive outcomes and timely discharge. Implement supportive and rehabilitative nursing care as identified. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve desired outcomes. Initiate and verify physician orders; utilize nursing judgment in care provision. Organize patient care based on needs and available resources. Advocate for patients, providing compassionate, individualized nursing care. Identify care priorities and coordinate with ancillary departments for optimal outcomes. Demonstrate professional development, accountability, and leadership in nursing practice. Follow legal and ethical guidelines, maintain confidentiality, adhere to professional appearance policies, and attend scheduled work. Administer medications following established policies and comply with patient safety goals and programs. Assist with staff orientation, professional development, quality improvement initiatives, and research support. Maintain competencies and pursue continuing education. Qualifications RN licensed in the State of Florida. Degree from an accredited school of nursing; bachelor’s degree preferred. Completion of general nursing orientation, unit orientation, and unit‑specific competency checklist. Professional interpersonal communication skills with patients, families, and colleagues. Certifications required by specific unit/area (refer to certification addendum). Completion of annual competency‑based learning modules (CBL). Excellent communication skills in dealing with physicians, patients, families, and other disciplines.
