Order Puller

The Order Puller works in a busy warehouse environment, accurately pulling orders from work order sheets, shipping pick lists, vendor pack slips, and supervisor instructions. This role supports the full shipping process by preparing documentation and operating warehouse equipment. The position requires regular movement across different areas of the warehouse, close coordination with team members, and use of computer systems to manage inventory locations and order status.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret work order sheets, shipping pick lists, vendor pack slips, and verbal or written instructions to accurately pull and prepare orders.
• Perform various warehouse tasks as assigned, including restocking shelves, assisting with loading and unloading shipments, and troubleshooting order or inventory issues.
• Comprehend and follow HAZMAT shipment procedures to ensure safe and compliant handling and shipping of hazardous materials.
• Prepare all documentation needed for shipment, ensuring accuracy and completeness for internal records and carrier requirements.
• Operate and maintain warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, hand carts, and related tools, with frequent movement across different areas of the warehouse and second building.
• Communicate and coordinate with team members across the warehouse floor and additional building to maintain smooth operations and efficient workflow.
• Use computer systems (including JDE) to determine product locations, check inventory levels, and update order and shipping information.
• Perform order pulling, picking, and packing activities with attention to detail and adherence to established processes.
• Support inventory management activities by helping track stock levels, identify discrepancies, and ensure products are stored in the correct locations.
• Assist in the shipping area as needed, learning products, locations, and processes while working behind the main shipping line.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and handle products and equipment carefully to prevent damage.

Essential Skills

• Experience in order pulling, picking, and packing in a warehouse or similar environment.
• At least 1 year of experience using Excel for basic data entry, tracking, or reporting.
• Ability to operate pallet jacks and hand carts safely and efficiently.
• Ability to use or learn RF scanners for locating and tracking inventory.
• Basic computer knowledge with the ability to learn and use systems such as JDE to determine locations and inventory.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when reading work orders and preparing shipments.
• Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members across the warehouse floor and second building.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the warehouse for the majority of the shift and handle pallet jack-heavy tasks.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions from supervisors and adapt to various assigned tasks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• At least 1 year of inventory management experience preferred.
• At least 1 year of shipping experience preferred.
• Willingness to start in pulling and stocking before moving into shipping responsibilities.
• Comfort working in a dusty warehouse environment with provided protective equipment.
• Willingness to learn new systems, processes, and logistics areas over time.

Work Environment

This position is based in a warehouse environment with a standard schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The shipping area includes a shipping line with approximately 4–5 employees, and the contractor initially works on the floor behind them to learn products, locations, and processes. Overall warehouse staffing is about 6–10 employees, creating a small, collaborative team setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
